Can't join server after name change??

Hi guys :3 i used to play a lot on this server about a year ago, some may remember me as Leek_chan, but after i changed my minecraft username to John_chan (my irl friends gave me new nick name :3) I can't join the server! it says I'll have to change my name back to leek_chan which I'd really rather not do (and that might prevent me from getting onto servers i've joined since my name change, which would suck )
I'd really love to get back to playing on this server as it has always been my favorite, is there any way to fix this?
