Changes to the way Mojang identify our accounts.

Mojang are going to be changing the way they identify our accounts in Minecraft 1.8.
Instead of using the username as a unique identifier, they will start using a "UUID" (something that looks like this: 069a79f4-44e9-4726-a5be-fca90e38aaf5). This will make it possible for a player to change their username (to any username not already taken).
Remember, (until many important plugins update) your username means: all your region/chest/etc protections, permissions (VIP/Exp/Mod/GM status), inventory/enderchest items, economy stats (your /money), all your SignShops, pretty much everything.

To secure your username for Minecraft 1.8, migrate your Minecraft account to a Mojang account as soon as possible, if you haven't done so already. -Migrate your account to Mojang-

Re: Changes to the way Mojang identify our accounts.

I made an Applet to grab the UUID awhile ago

it may not work with newer versions of java (as of java's jan update) since they killed off applets made by poor open source developers (screw you java)

EDIT: if that does not work i made a desktop version that will
