READ THIS FIRST

A few important things to note when appealing bans...

(THIS IS NOT A THREAD FOR YOU TO ASK "PLEASE BAN ******." The admin decide what course to take. If you have an issue with the server or another player go back and check out the support thread. This is where issues should be posted. Tell us your problem and don't beg us to ban someone. Begging to ban someone is the first step in losing credibility in your post. Just tell us your side of events.)

1. Be respectful. 100% of bans will not be lifted if you act like an ass in your appeal.

2. Be truthful. We have logs and they will be checked.

3. If you made a mistake no worries. It is admitting you were in the wrong and learning from that mistake that will save you. It may show the quality of good character as well. Keep in mind we are all human and even the administration and moderator team may stuff up from time to time.

4. Maintain respect for everyone not just admins. One major rule of the server if respecting other players. That is also enforced in the forums. Keep in mind that some things should be reserved for PM's.

5. Be as detailed as possible in your account of events.

6. Sometimes you may feel frustrated...take a moment to calm down before posting.

7. Don't make the same mistake again. We're not babysitters. If you have been temp banned before or your ban lifted don't come back with a vengenance. That will get you a one way ticket to ban central with no hope of return.

8. You are responsible for your own account. If a friend logged in and caused trouble you need to make a very assuring appeal. Keep in mind players falling victim to this only get one chance if we lift the ban. If you allow it to happen again your S.O.L.

9. Don't get friends to ask to unban you in game. If you want to return you need to be the one to make an appeal.

10. A temporary ban may be extended as a result of misconduct in the forums either relating or not to an appeal. So if you were banned for being an ass then decide to become one in an appeal expect your time to be extended as the original time obviously wasn't enough. Not all bans are temporary either. Making a ban temporary or permanent is the sole discretion of the person swinging the banhammer.

11. If the ban doesn't involve you in some fashion...its best to stay out of it. Appeal posts should be between the person banned and current moderators and administration.

12. We're not going to tell you how to appeal. Nor are we going to accept bribes. We don't care if you promise you won't do it again and that is all the assurance you have to give. In an appeal it is all about character and how you proceed with the process. For a perfect example of a "text book" appeal please see the following thread...viewtopic.php?f=10&t=438. That person was truthful, honest, respectful and everything else a person should be in an appeal.

Keep these points in mind people...you will benefit from them.

Re: READ THIS FIRST

I just wanted to add something that some players may not realize...

The logs kept of the server log EVERYTHING in impressive detail. You'd think when we say it logs everything you'd think things like, "When I log in it logs the time and date right?" Not just that. The logs will also show us the exact location in the world you spawned in at when logging in. They will also show us your IP address. For those who don't know what an IP address is, this number is very much like your internet postal address. An IP address can be traced back to determine who your internet provider is, roughly where your connection is located, among other things. You are the only one who uses your particular IP address. No where else in the world has the same number at the same time. Its of course important to keep in mind that such information is never made public.

Recently we had a player try to say they had been hacked. At the time they were "hacked" the IP they had logged in from was the exact same IP they were posting their appeal from. So it might be important to stress to be honest in your appeal as mentioned above. We can verify information such as that. We're much more likely to approve your appeal if you're honest, admit your mistake and simply have patience. If you lie to us you're sure to stay banned. Honestly at that point you might as well find another place to play.

It is also important to note that if you've already made your appeal and haven't followed any of this nor bothered to read this post until now you might seriously want to delete that post and re-write it.

Conditions may apply to successful appeals. These conditions will be discussed with you prior to unbanning. Players caught using X-ray that are let back on the server should know all personal items of that player will always be cleared. This includes all houses, chests, inventory and in-game money accounts. Simply put, we have no clue what is legit. Normally players caught with this are not allowed back. However, should it be allowed this will certainly be a condition of return. Players welcomed back and failing to follow the conditions set will face a reinstitution of their ban which shall then become permanent. Players are always welcome to discuss conditions and bans with the staff. It is expected that should a player disagree with return conditions that those concerns be discussed -before- that player returns to the server. Once the player has returned, the terms are considered to be accepted and will be made final.

As stated in the disclaimer, donations or VIP status will have absolutely no bearing on appeals. Offering to pay to redeem oneself does not necessarily show a good quality of character as that which is desired in a genuinely moral and good gamer. However, the ability to learn from a mistake and enjoy the game while following the few simple rules of Rolyd.com is the most that is expected of our community. So get out there and have fun!
